그리고 회화의 자율성

1990년대 이후 그는 벽돌의 완전한 형태를 해체하고 파편화된 이미지로 재구성했다. 비논리적 시점과 불규칙한 그림자를 사용해 서양 원근법의 틀을 거부하며, 회화의 자율성과 내적 논리를 강조했다. 벽돌은 더 이상 실재의 모사가 아니라 ‘이상화된 이미지’로 변모했고, 이는 극사실주의를 넘어선 새로운 회화적 단계로의 진입을 의미했다. 

Deconstruction and Reconstruction – Toward the Autonomy of Painting

Since the 1990s, Kim Kang Yong has deconstructed the complete form of the brick and reassembled it into fragmented images. By employing illogical perspectives and irregular shadows, he rejected the framework of Western linear perspective, emphasizing the autonomy and internal logic of painting. The brick was no longer a depiction of reality but an idealized image, signaling his transition beyond hyperrealism into a new pictorial stage.
